BMW 3: Switching on/off and interrupting
cruise control
With steering and traffic jam
assistant: Assisted Driving
General information
This button is used to switch the
configured
function on and off.
The button can be used to set the
primarily
used function.
Set function
1. When the system is active,
press the
button repeatedly until the desired function is
selected in the function bar. The function bar for Assisted Driving is displayed
at the bottom
of the instrument cluster.
- Cruise control with distance
control.
- Depending on the equipment
version,
cruise control with distance control
and steering and traffic jam assistant.
- Depending on the equipment
version,
cruise control with distance control
and steering and traffic jam assistant.
The selected function is shown in green.
The setting is stored for the driver profile currently
used.
Switching on
With steering and traffic jam assistant:
1. Press the button on the
steering
wheel.
2. If necessary, set the cruise
control.
Without steering and traffic jam assistant:
Press the button on the steering
wheel.
The indicator lights in the instrument cluster light
up and the marking on the speedometer is set to
the current speed.
Cruise control is active. The current speed is
maintained and stored as desired speed.
DSC Dynamic Stability Control is switched on, if
necessary.
Switching off
To switch off the system while standing, step on
brake pedal at the same time.
Press the button on the steering wheel:
Without steering and traffic jam
assistant.
With steering and traffic jam
assistant.
The displays go out. The stored desired speed is
deleted.
Interrupting manually
When active, press the following button on the
steering wheel:
Without steering and traffic jam
assistant.
With steering and traffic jam
assistant.
If interrupting the system while stationary, press
on the brake pedal at the same time.
Interrupting automatically
The system is automatically interrupted in the
following situations:
- When the driver applies the brakes.
- When selector lever position D is disengaged.
- Dynamic Traction Control DTC is activated or
DSC Dynamic Stability Control is deactivated.
- If DSC Dynamic Stability Control intervenes.
- If the safety belt is unbuckled and the driver's
door is opened while the vehicle is standing
still.
- If the system has not detected objects for an
extended period, for instance on a road with
very little traffic without curb or shoulder
markings.
- If the detection range of the radar is impaired,
for instance by dirt or heavy fog.
- After a longer stationary period when the vehicle
has been braked to a stop by the system.
