BMW 3: Music hard disk

General information

Tracks from CDs and USB storage devices can be stored on the music hard disk in the vehicle and played from there.

  • CD: the tracks are converted into a compressed audio format and stored in a directory that contains the name of the album. If no information about the album is stored, the directory and all tracks receive an automated name.
  • USB storage device with compressed audio files: all playable audio files from the USB storage device are stored in a directory that receives the name of the USB storage device.

Tracks and directories can be subsequently renamed and deleted.

Tracks with Digital Rights Management DRM copy protection can be stored but cannot be played back.

Regularly back up your music hard disk, otherwise the stored music might be lost if there is a fault on the hard disk.
