BMW 3: Instrument cluster

Concept

The instrument cluster is a variable display.

When you change to a different program via Driving Dynamics Control, the displays in the instrument cluster adapt to the respective driving mode.

General information

The display change in the instrument cluster can be deactivated via iDrive.

Some of the displays in the instrument cluster may differ from the illustrations in the Owner's Manual.

Central display area

Depending on the equipment and configuration, the following is displayed in the central display area of the instrument cluster:

  • Navigation displays such as the map view or, if destination guidance is active, a route preview with destination guidance information.
  • Displays showing service requirements.
  • Assisted Driving View. Information about the assist systems is displayed in an animated surrounding area of the vehicle.

    The system's detection potential is limited.

    Only objects that are detected by the system are taken into account.

Warning The system cannot serve as a substitute for the driver's personal judgment in assessing visibility and traffic situation. There is a risk of accident.

Adjust driving style to traffic conditions. Watch traffic closely and actively intervene where appropriate.

Some displays in the central display area can be configured individually.

The displays may vary depending on the equipment version and country variant.

Driving mode view

Concept

When the driving mode view is deactivated, the displays in the instrument cluster remain unchanged and do not adapt to the respective driving mode when the program is changed via Driving Dynamics Control.

Activating/deactivating

Via iDrive:

1. "CAR".

Adjusting

Individual displays in the instrument cluster can be configured individually.

5. Select the desired setting.
